The Building Technician will assist the facility team and will be responsible for representing Newell Rubbermaid's interests with regard to building management, facility engineering, and operations. The Building Technician will carry daily responsibility of maintenance operations and systems within our Global HQ and ancillary buildings Newell Rubbermaid maintains. We are looking for a service-minded professional who is extremely detail oriented and ready to maintain a world class HQ facility. The Building Technician is the service leader who performs all maintenance activities of the facility including construction, painting, general maintenance, electrical and low voltage service, and system and equipment repairs. The ideal Building Technician has team-lead experience combined with a strong jack-of-all-trades aptitude in appliance repair, carpentry, plumbing, machine and equipment repair, low voltage and electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, and carpentry/framing. A successful Building Technician will have a "roll up their sleeves" mentality with the know-how to perform all facility maintenance requirements, but who can also be a team player and help out when other facility department needs are present.
The Building Technician is a customer service leader. Being a "people" person is not enough. The ideal candidate must be able to address the maintenance concerns of our facility personnel in a friendly and professional manner. A successful candidate must have strong organizational abilities, follow-up skills, and great attention to detail in a fast paced environment. The ideal Building Technician candidate must have 3-plus years of maintenance and team-lead experience, preferably in a class A facility or corporate campus.

* General computer skills are required! A Building Technician will use a variety of programs such as EMS systems, building controls, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, AutoCAD, as well as Newell Rubbermaid internal programs.

* Multi-tasking and adaptation are key elements to success! The Building Technician must efficiently handle a changing environment and be capable of dealing with multiple people and various situations simultaneously.

* This is a hands-on, working role where the Building Technician is expected to be an integral part of the day to day facility activities.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
* Minimum of 5 years technical systems - building automation experience.
* Minimum of 2 year college degree in building trades and/or systems or equal training/experience.
* Minimum of 5 years of cooling tower & SWUD experience.
* Must have Certified Freon Card.
Principle Duties:
- Identifies and lists replacement, repair and/or recalibration action required by service
mechanics
- Performs logging operations using basic mechanical and electrical test equipment to
obtain data
- Responds to daily workorders for general building maintenance repairs (e.g. hot/cold calls, light bulb replacements, workstation changes/repairs).
- Inspects mechanical equipment such as cooling towers, cooling units, PIU's and VAV's.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning and oiling cooling units, cleaning coils in cooling towers, changing belts, lubricating equipment, and filter replacements.
- Monitors equipment operations through walking tours. Reports any alarms representing failure of systems.
- Performs low voltage wiring tasks (e.g. installation of door switches, call stations) and performs regular maintenance checks. Pulls cable and wire according to specifications.
- Performs service calls on equipment unrelated to HVAC, controls, or PTC (e.g. restaurant equipment). Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Clean drivers license
Secondary Team Support Responsibilities:
* Mail services (shipping, receiving and delivery)
* Copy and print services
* Stock and distribute supplies (copy paper, refreshments, mail packaging)
* General maintenance (light bulbs, air quality, painting, light-janitorial)
* Box equipment and assist with employee moves
* Furniture moves, reconfigurations and repairs
* Relieve receptionist as necessary
* Maintain key program (offices and furniture)
* Facilitate outside services and vendor tasks to maintain efficiency
* Pre / post meeting support (setup and cleanup)
* Assist with supply management at the facility
* Transport passengers and equipment utilizing company vehicles
* Ability to operate various hand tools and equipment
* Proven ability to diagnose and repair problems with light office equipment and furniture
