Summary: The Senior Manager, Safety and Health is responsible for developing and leading the execution of the Safety and Health strategy for all Newell Rubbermaid locations in the region with the goal of eliminating workplace injuries/illnesses, reducing work related injury costs, and complying with all safety and health laws and regulations. The role includes 8-10 locations that vary in size and type. This position reports directly to the Corporate Vice President, Safety and Health for Newell Rubbermaid. This position will have a direct contact at each location (i.e. Director of Ops, Safety Manager, etc) that they will work directly with for the execution of each locations safety and health strategy.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES % OF TIME
* Responsible for developing and executing the strategic safety and health improvement direction for the region. 5%
* Assist in the development, leadership, and execution of each locations Safety and Health improvement strategies through the deployment of a proactive improvement process. The execution includes communication of expectations, assessing progress, performing some of the implementation, and being a resource for all locations. Embedded in this execution scope is the responsibility of ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal Safety and Health laws and regulations at all locations. 30%
* Lead the deployment of the Corporate Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) process. This includes leading the execution of the annual SEAL assessment as well as assisting each location in the deployment of the action items identified for improvement throughout the year. 30%
* Provide leadership and assistance to all locations in the region for work related injury/illness claim management activities. Help locations set standard processes, expectations, monitor location management progress, and provide location guidance on proper execution. 15%
* Lead safety best practice sharing and standardization throughout the region. Also responsible to ensure alignment to the Newell Rubbermaid overall safety improvement strategy. 10%
* Be the Corporate champion in at least 1 Safety and Health subject area. 5%
* Participate, give safety updates, and assistance in other operational activities such as GBU ops reviews, lean manufacturing, productivity, new product development, new process or equipment reviews, etc. 5%
Supervisory Responsibilities
Locations in the Region with dedicated safety staff will indirectly report to this position.

Time Management: This position will work with all Newell Rubbermaid locations in the Southwest region which includes multiple GBU's. Time at each location will vary from month to month based on Safety and Health needs and activity.

Possible locations for this position: Huntersville, NC, Winchester, VA, East Longmeadow, MA, Atlanta, GA

Qualifications
Qualifications
The most qualified candidate will possess strong technical knowledge/ability in Safety & Health. The most qualified candidate will also have experience and knowledge with Workers Compensation injury claim management and reporting requirements, knowledge on the Occupational Health and Safety Act, good communication and influencing skills that can be displayed at all levels of the organization, demonstrates passion and tenacity towards the safety and health improvement process and meeting goals, is a good listener, and demonstrates the ability to work in a team environment.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a college or university; or a certification in safety management (i.e. CSP). Minimum of 3 years experience in a full-time Safety position required.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
