The position will provide support to all Safety activities and programs for the Winfield, Kansas operations. This position will provide support to the Plant Leadership Team in achieving their goal to eliminate work related injuries. Support includes evaluation of the worksite, training in safety and OSHA related matters, proactive analysis of loss experience and recommendations regarding worksite safety practices.


Essential Duties:
* Develops and implements company health and safety procedures, processes and programs which ensure the safety of the operation, which are compliant with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
* Leads the behavior-based safety process for the facility.
* Develops and implements safety awareness programs, which are behavior-based and contribute to increased awareness of core safety program elements.
* Participate in the investigation, documentation and analysis of accidents and injuries and maintains a follow-up system to ensure corrective action is promptly implemented.
* Leads, develops or coordinates supervisory, new hire, and contractor training programs which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
* Responsible for serving as a technical resource to support associates, at all levels, on safety-related issues.
* Analyzes and assesses plant safety trend data to drive safety resource allocation and ergonomic initiatives to reduce injuries.
* Maintains good relationships with Workers' compensation TPA's and manages claims, including return to work practices.
* Facilitates, develops and maintains existing safety programs to improve on the SEAL (Safety Excellence and Leadership) assessment score year over year.
* Maintains OSHA log, written safety plans, training records and other reporting requirements.
* Conducts or coordinates a critical task assessment for the facility. Act as a resource to the Leadership Team in assisting them to implement written Job Safety Analysis for tasks that are identified as critical tasks, within their departments.
* Responsible for inspecting the facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
* Conducts/participates in department meetings and promotes an open line of communication with other team members.
* Complete special assignments and projects on an as needed basis.


Qualifications
Technical Experience and other Requirements:


·     Three to five years of related safety and/or occupational health experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree in EH&amp;S, Safety Engineering, Human Resources, or other relevant technical fields preferred.
* Proven track record of results in a fast changing environment. Action oriented - results driven.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Federal safety regulations and job safety analysis required.
* Experience with behavior-based safety processes preferred.
* Knowledgeable in Workers' Compensation case management including transition to work programs.
* Strong leadership, coaching and relationship building skills.
* Demonstrated experience in project planning and management.
* Ability to gain employee commitment to site and company objectives.
* Demonstrates integrity and credibility in all aspects of responsibility.
* Works collaboratively at all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Quality and Operational Excellence (OPEX) Manager will lead the Quality and OPEX functions at the Winfield, Kansas Manufacturing Facility and will act as the plant authority on Quality and Lean Manufacturing Principles. A strong background in Six Sigma is also required. The principle position responsibility is to act as advisor to all departments and to lead cross-functional teams to support effective use of manpower and materials to achieve part quality and the lowest overall cost. This is the main leadership role in the implementation of Quality and OPEX at the Plant level including project leadership, teaching, and coaching associates as well as management. A Change Agent responsible for leading the plant into a data driven, team oriented culture that embraces quality and continuous improvement within a six sigma environment.

Job Responsibilities:
Quality
§ Provide supervision and direction to ensure and improve the functional and quality levels of all products produced.
§ Develop and implement quality related training, standards, programs, processes, procedures and systems for the facility.
§ Establish and track metrics for cost of failure.
§ Responsible for customer and consumer related quality concerns.
§ Monitor daily quality results, attend daily production meetings.
§ Offer guidelines for improvement of quality and productivity.
§ Monitor customer and consumer concerns and offer suggestions for improvement.
§ Direct organization in quality improvements via modern manufacturing techniques.
§ Drive associate involvement in the business through product quality awareness.
§ Direct training programs for new and current quality associates at all levels.
§ Drive continuous improvement in processes, specifications, and cost reductions efforts.
§ Lead activities to drive vendor certification.
§ Perform other Quality Department duties as requested.


OPEX
§  Develop and lead the Plant's OPEX initiative within the divisional guidelines.
§  Manage Lean and Six Sigma professionals to lead and guide all OPEX initiatives within the plant.
§  Work closely with the division management on OPEX process projects.
§  Ensure ongoing education of all employees at this location in OPEX initiatives and promote a continuous learning environment, including: Waste Elimination, Six Sigma, Cellular Manufacturing, TPM, SMED, etc.
§  Lead multiple team Kaizen events.
§  Provide high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting Safety, Quality, Service and Cost goals.
§  Communicate the status of all OPEX efforts to both the Director of Operations and the Division OPEX Director/Manager (provide documentation of results and benefits achieved).
§  Share "best practice" methods and ideas across the Company.
§  Work with all operating disciplines by using value stream management to develop a master plan of meeting the goals of OPEX.
§  Supply opportunity solutions to local management and peer workers using a hands-on approach driven by results.
§  Expected to exceed annual productivity goal of 5%.


Climate:
Must work effectively in a fast paced team environment with constant interruptions. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization's success. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving. Some irregular hours required.




Qualifications
§ BS in engineering or related field preferred
§ 7- 10 years plant/operations experience (preferably several years each of Quality &amp; Lean Manufacturing experience)
§ Previous management experience, preferably managing engineers
§ Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, Six Sigma Black Belt strongly preferred
§ ASQ/ CQT Certificate (or equivalent) preferred
§ Proven track record of successfully leading multiple Kaizen events, typical three to five day events, within a manufacturing environment
§ Strong facilitation of encouragement, motivation and inspirational skills
§ Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment
§ Good presentation skills to effectively share the success and ideas
§ MS Office software skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Minitab
